Top 3 things to do or consider before hiring a Landscape Designer,
Landscape Contractor or a General Contractor:

1. Get references.   Ask for a several references from the contractor you plan
on hiring.  Positive feedback from their previous clients will give you extra
assurance that you are making the right decision hiring them.   You could ask
questions such as:  How was the quality of their work.   Are they detail
oriented or not?  Were you happy with the craftsmanship? On a level of one to
10 what would you give it for an overall job quality?    Was anything left
unfinished or seem unsatifactory to you?  Did they leave the jobsite clean
during construction and after completion?  Would you recommend the
contractor to someone else?   If others have had a positive experiences, the
chances are you will have a positive experience as well working with that
    contractor.

2. View Photos of their work:   A professional Landscape Designer or
Contractor will have an extensive photo portfolio to showcase their previously
completed work. Take a look at a contractors prior completed work and
compare it to other contractors   Does it appear to be constructed well? Is it
appealing to eye to look at.    Are you more impressed with or drawn towards
one particular contractor's or designer's portfolio? These are things to
    consider.

3. Obtain 3 written bids on your project  Make sure you're comparing apples
to apples, meaning compare similar specifications and scope of work.  Do not
automatically accept the lowest bid. Often times a low bidder may perform
low or poor quality workmanship.   A lower bidder may also be cutting corners
or using inferior building materials or construction techniques.   Consider
quality and value before making decisions about something you will be living
with for a for possibly decades to come.   Consider long term value and
longevity,  It may be worth hiring a professional who has an expertise, proven
track record and who has a reputation for doing high quality work.
